Birthday card

By: Manas Chaturvedi( Leeuwnhawk)

I could have gifted you something that has a price

Something fancy, something nice

But instead I gathered my craft and made you this card

Not with money, but with all my heart.

Quatrain

By: Manas Chaturvedi

My co-bloggers insist on me posting something new today

I am out of any new ideas , I have nothing much to say

But determined to write something and not to disappoint them again

I just wrote this sweet little quatrain!

The Thorn

By: Manas Chaturvedi

NOTE:  This poem is not written by us. It’s written by Ashish Singh, a friend of ours, and an up and coming poet. Enjoy his good work:

Thornless they say, withers and does die a rose.
A rose, I once did protect too and hold.
But strange is she, and strong.
For she, has learnt to live without her beloved thorn…

Writer’s block

By: Manas Chaturvedi

This post is kind of strange. Actually, I am writing this post just because I am not able to write anything new! Confused? Lemme explain…

Those readers of ours who write stories or poems or anything related with pen and paper must have experienced the kind of feeling which I am, or was experiencing. I am talking about every writer’s nightmare, THE WRITER’S BLOCK!

Writer’s block, simply put, is the stage in the life of a writer when he or she is not being able to produce any original or genuine piece of art. A writer could write 5 stories or poems a day for 4 weeks continuously,  and suddenly go on without writing anything new for days on end!

Here’s what wikipedia had to say about this phenomena:

Writer’s block is a condition, primarily associated with writing as a profession, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work. The condition varies widely in intensity. It can be trivial, a temporary difficulty in dealing with the task at hand. At the other extreme, some “blocked” writers have been unable to work for years on end, and some have even abandoned their careers. It can manifest as the affected writer viewing their work as inferior or unsuitable, when in fact it could be the opposite.

Even well-known artists and writer’s suffer from writer’s block!

Rapper Eminem suffered from writer’s block for some time as the artist mentioned in “Talking to Myself”, a track on his top selling album Recovery. It was one of the causes for his musical hiatus.

Here’s a stanza from one of my poems where I expressed my feelings when going through a similar stage…

My life’s a blank page
Nothing new to write
It’s as still as a river
With no future in sight.
